During the ongoing How the world work unit, children explored different materials and how they change. They played with flour, clay, and sand. Children showed enthusiasm while playing with materials, excitedly touching, pouring, and scooping. When materials would change and become sticky, slippery and gooey, children showed great communication skills while describing the material changes.
They also observed natural phenomena of light and color, such as a rainbow made with water and a mirror and color projections using tinted transparencies, blocks and flashlights.
